These 32% two-way humidity packs are the lowest humidity level currently available. Lower humidity levels will increase muzzle velocity, without sacrificing safety or consistency.
Changes in humidity will alter the weight of powder a seemingly meager 1%, while also causing a massive 200 ft/s shift in muzzle velocity.
Too dry and it becomes unsafe from increased pressure.
Too humid and you lose velocity.

Depending on a variety of factors, humidity packs could either increase or decrease the amount of water content in your powder. More moisture leads to slower velocities. Storing powder with humdity packs can lead to more consistent muzzle velocity.
The following factors can have an impact on the moisture content of your powder: The relative humidity of your region, where you store your powder, the frequency with which you open the jugs, how long you leave the powder in your trickler system.
In the experiments we've run, small quantities of powder stabilized within 48 hours. Larger quantities and greater differences from the target humidity level will require more time. Keeping the jug sealed with a CAP Lite will help it to stabilize faster.
If there is enough demand for the current models of CAP Lite, then we will definitely reinvest and support more sizes.
No. Desiccant packs can remove too much water content from your powder, causing it to burn hotter than expected which can lead to unsafe conditions.
The CAP Lite is made from inert materials that do not off-gas. The seal is silicone rubber. The hanger is HDPE plastic, the same material that powder jugs are made from. The two-way humidity packs from Boveda only emit pure water and are no less safe than the air your powder is exposed to.
While we are no longer producing it, you can still learn more about the original CAP.

Follow along my journey to turn an idea into a physical product that can be manufactured at scale and is ready for retail.
The storefront is live and ready for orders!
My intent is to sell direct to consumers for a few weeks while I get product shipped out to retailers. Long term, the CAP Lite will likely only be available for sale through these retailers.
The packaging backer cards have been received. It will take some time to pack each CAP Lite, humidity pack, and sticker into the zip bags then attach the backer cards. I have some ideas for creating a system to do this and timing myself to estimate how long it wil take to complete.
The backer cards for retail packaging have been ordered from a local company. Expected date of completion is 10/21.
The design for retail packaging has been finalized and sent to a company for proofing.
All of the CAP Lite parts have been received.
The CAP Lite parts have been ordered from ProtoLabs. Expected completion & date of shipping to Ammolytics HQ is Aug 11th.
Regarding product color and translucency, I received a color guide from Avient Corporation (they make the color additives used by ProtoLabs) which helped me to make a more well-informed decision. The seals will most likely be opaque. The Vihtavuori seal will be a lighter shade of blue, which will help customers to see if any powder kernels are stuck to it.
I'm having an ongoing converstaion with ProtoLabs about the color and translucency of the silicone seals. The earlier samples from January were translucent and the current samples are opaque. While I have a slight preference for translucent, I really just want to know what to expect for the final product and if I have any options for controlling the outcome.
The CAP Lite sample parts arrived! I'm about to leave for a long-overdue family vacation but first I wanted to share some photos of how things look.
There's been a delay in transferring funds to ProtoLabs due to issues with my bank and their default limits being significantly less than what's needed for orderng the molds. Response times from the bank support team was painfully slow. In the end, I just had to use an ACH transfer. Expected completion & shipping date is likely impacted but I don't yet know by how much.
The production molds for the CAP Lite have been ordered! Expected completion & date of shipping to Ammolytics HQ is June 26th. Molds and parts are being made by ProtoLabs in Minnesota. Two models are being produced -- the V-Lite for Vihtavuori powders and the H8-Lite for 8 pound Hodgdon and Shooters World powders.
